Safety first

We do everything we can to ensure that our employees return home safely every day. That's why we've developed a rigorous security program that we don't compromise on.

Building an Exemplary Safety Attitude

B.A.S.E.: Borea is one of the few contractors in the world committed to a behaviour-based safety program.

The B.A.S.E. program was developed specifically for the renewable energy project construction sector. The observation processes put in place by a committee of field supervisors and foremen have allowed Borea to identify the prevailing risky and safe behaviours on its construction sites.

Defining
the B.A.S.E.

Observers are present on every site. By monitoring work practices, they reinforce safe behaviours and step in to correct risky ones, working with the individuals involved to find safe solutions.

Borea has built on this approach and applies the same method across all of its construction sites. The strength of the B.A.S.E. program lies in its ability to prevent accidents and incidents before they occur.

Outcome for our customers

The daily and weekly meetings and the safety committee meetings are complemented by the holding of approximately 200 individual safety meetings per month, fed by the B.A.S.E. program.

A significant reduction
in accidents

Implemented in 2013, the program has proven so effective that key performance indicators show a significant reduction in accidents and lost-time incidents.

Thanks to the B.A.S.E. program, we are able to offer our employees and our clients some of the safest job sites in the industry.

Efforts
that pay off

Borea Construction won the Occupational Health and Safety Management Award at the 74th ACRGTQ Convention for the health and safety efforts made during the construction of the Mont Sainte-Marguerite Wind Farm in Beauce.

Borea
stands out

Borea stood out for the safety measures taken to control the dangers of trench collapses and excavations, falls of more than three meters, asbestos dust emanations and various electrical hazards.

Our
commitment

We are committed to being the North American benchmark in renewable energy.

See
our projects

We have completed more projects in Canada than any other wind and solar energy contractor. From start to finish, we offer a unique building experience.

Projet Huckleberry

Huckleberry Project

The Huckleberry Solar Project is a 124.7 MWac photovoltaic solar generating facility located in Mayes County, Oklahoma. Comprising 323,640 First Solar S7 modules, Sungrow SG4400-US inverters, and a NextPower 75 degree Hail Stow tracking system, it will produce enough clean energy to power more than 100,000 homes.

Projet Sharp Hills

Sharp Hills Wind

The Sharp Hills Wind Project is located in Special Area 3 and 4 near the hamlets of Sedalia and New Brigden, in Alberta. The project area is primarily used for grain farming and cattle grazing, which consists mainly of flat plains and rolling hills. Sharp Hills Wind Farm has a mixed layout utilizing 67 Vestas V150 turbines rated at 4.3 MW and 4.5 MW and has an installed capacity of 300MW. Sharp Hills’ generation is equivalent to the consumption of more than 160,000 Alberta homes.

Projet Michichi

Michichi Solar

Projet Empress

Empress Solar

The Empress Solar Project is located in Cypress County, in Alberta, approximately 30km south of the Village of Empress on approximately 284 acres of privately owned land. The Power plant consists of ground-mounted solar PV Modules, with a total generating capacity of 38.5 MWac and 48.13 M Wdc.

Projet Buffalo Plains

Buffalo Plains Wind Farm

Buffalo Plains Wind Farm is a project located west of Lomond, Alberta in Vulcan County consisting of 83 wind turbine generators that will generate enough to supply a city of more than 100,000 homes with clean energy.

Projet Lanfine

Lanfine Project

Borea was awarded a contract by Pattern Energy for the construction of the Lanfine Wind Farm, located south and west of Oyen, Alberta, in Special Zone 3 of the Municipal District of Acadia.
